FAQ
Q. Why do I have to pay when I visit ATC?
Travel medicine including consults and vaccines, are not covered by MCP. The fees you pay cover the cost of the vaccines and the clinic operation. You will be provided with receipts with the appropriate information for insurance purposes.
Q. What is the benefit of a consult?
The nurses at the Avalon travel clinic are trained in travel medicine and are able to assess your individual needs in order to provide vaccinations specific to your itinerary. We stock all routine travel vaccinations as well as the Yellow Fever vaccination which is mandatory for entry to certain countries (we are a Health Canada designated Yellow Fever clinic). In addition to vaccinations, Dr. Seviour is able to provide any necessary travel related prescriptions.
Q. Do you offer discounts?
We offer both family and group discounts. Families of 4+ pay a flat consultation fee of $120.00. Please call our clinic to inquire about our group discount rates.
Q. How long before my trip should I visit ATC?
Four to six weeks before departure is recommended to give you adequate time to complete vaccines which require a series. If you are leaving on short notice, accelerated schedules are available with certain vaccines.
Q. What side effects will I experience following vaccination?
Most vaccines cause no reactions outside of some local redness or tenderness at the injection site.
Q. Should I bring anything with me to the appointment?
Yes, please bring a list of current medications, any vaccination records you have and a detailed itinerary of your trip.
